Nina Vichayapai

Summer/Fall 2018 Artist-in-Residence

Nina Vichayapai is a soft sculptural installation artist who uses fabric as a language to communicate identity. Her installations dive into themes of immigrant home making, migrations and identity, and the environment as an allusion to histories of colonization. Her work has been shown in galleries, community spaces, and in residencies across the West Coast and has won an award with Kearny Street Workshop. In addition to her practice she also works and volunteers as a museum educator to promote accessibility to the arts and history by increasing awareness of diverse and underrepresented narratives. Born in Bangkok, Thailand, she graduated from the California College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and currently lives in Seattle.

Nina will be working at Inscape from August 8 – December 8. Her residency will culminate with an exhibition in the gallery during our fall Open Studios on December 8.
